Chetan Bhagat is the internet’s soft target. He somehow finds himself fighting with Twitterati for one reason or the other. His books although best sellers, do not go down with intellectuals who have a presence on the internet and have shown their disgruntlement. Chetan Bhagat to promote his new book One Indian Girl, tweeted out asking people to take pictures with their copies and Twitter had a field day with it. He didn’t seem to take it in a good spirit.
Chetan Bhagat in an interview, showed his disdain towards Twitter saying that, it promotes bullying.
Bhagat said these trolls will make the site suffer as most people are tired of it and have moved on to other media platforms.
“Only writers and media persons are there. All actors and other celebrities are gone. They are on Instagram now!”
He defended his presence on the medium by stating he has the right to use it for his benefit, “When my book is out, I deliberately go there. I know the medium is like a minefield and it has only become negative.”
Writers are supposed to be unbiased, said Chetan. Commenting on the government is not off the table either.
“Writers who say I am only going to take an anti-government position are stupid. When my government does corruption I will speak against it but when they are retaliating on a terrorist attack I will support them.”
Revenge from Twitter now ,is it?
