If you’ve been seeing ‘Baghpat fight’ and ‘Einstein chacha’ memes all over the internet and don’t know what’s happening, here’s a quick explainer. Yesterday, in the Atithi Bhavan market area of Baraut town (Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh), chaat vendors fought each other with sticks and rods. According to News18, the brawl went on for 20 minutes and 12 people got injured.
The Times of India quoted Baraut circle officer MS Rawat saying, “Vendors at two chaat shops clashed over the issue of attracting customers. We have received complaints and eight people from both sides have been arrested. There is no law and order situation.”

NDTV quoted one of the vendors named Harinder chacha saying, “They kept drawing my customers away…they kept telling them come to our shop, his food is last night’s…The customers would return my chaat. They did this four or five times.”
