CEO Gifts His Car To New Employee Who Left Home At Midnight To Walk 32 Km To Reach On Time

One secret to success that every established personality swears by is: “Put in the work and success will follow.” And when you think about it, it is actually as simple as that. However, most of us get easily discouraged when the expected results are not achieved within the timeframe that we set in our minds. This, in turn, messes with our heads and ends up affecting our initial zeal and resolve. We then come up with more excuses than solutions to achieve the set goal.

For one young man from Alabama, there was no question of giving any excuses. He committed himself to his job and the job, in turn, gave due appreciation to his commitment.

Walter Carr was left in a dilemma when his car stopped working the day before he was supposed to show up for his new job.

According to a viral Facebook post by user Jenny Hayden, it was Walter’s first day with the moving company that was helping her and her family with their house shifting.

Determined to not give any excuses, Walter decided to walk an astonishing 32 km to Jenny’s house. She describes the day’s events as such:

“Chris and I woke up around 5:45 am to get everything staged and ready for the movers. Around 6:30 am the doorbell rang. It was a police officer. He proceeded to tell us that he had picked up ‘this nice kid‘ in Pelham early this morning. ‘The nice kid’, Walter, said that he was supposed to help us with our move today.
It was his first day on the job with this moving company (Bellhops) and he was ‘training’ today. The officer proceeded to tell us that the previous evening Walter’s car broke down and he didn’t know how he was going to get to work. So he left Homewood at midnight and started walking to Pelham on 280. He walked all night to get from Homewood to Pelham. Because he needed to get to work. For those reading this that are not local, that’s over 20 Miles.”

The police officers who had picked up Walter were so impressed by his story, that they took him for breakfast and later dropped him at his destination. Despite Jenny asking Walter to rest for sometime before the rest of his team arrived, he politely declined and proceeded to help the family get things in order.

Walter’s dedication impressed his employers so much that, the CEO of Bellhops, Luke Marklin gifted his 2014 Ford Escape car to him. Watch:

The incredible young man, who was once a marine says that he was just determined to prove his dedication as it was the first company who’d hired him in a long time. He says:

“I was like, i will get to this job one way or the other.”

The Pelham Police Department couldn’t hold back from praising the inspiring young man:

As with every heartwarming tale, Walter’s story has gone viral and netizens are vowing to improve their work ethics with hashtags like #BeLikeWalter:
