Horrified at what has happened in Tuticorin. It is disgrace to Tamil Nadu and to us as a country. You go to a police station for help. #JeyarajandFenix. Bennicks was just 31. What kind of people do we hire as policemen? Or do they believe it is all right?

There are good cops and there are bad cops. But when Good cops don't stand up against the brutality of the bad cops, but are a mere witness to it, they are not actually Good cops. #JUSTICEFORJAYARAJANDBENNIX

Ruthless, horrific beating to death in #Tuticorin is one more chapter in the systemic violence prevalent in police stations across India. Sadly, institutions that should provide hope – public hospitals and police are actually the most hopeless. #Reform #JusticeForJeyarajAndFenix

Jayaraj and his son Fenix were arrested for keeping their shops open past the lockdown curfew time. They were then allegedly subjected to assault by the police in the jail and both died at a hospital in Kovilpatti on June 23.
Some people even compared the incident with the killing of George Floyd and urged people to stay united until justice is served to the Tamil Nadu family. We hope our collective efforts bear fruit and the perpetrators are punished at the earliest.
