Ancient Indian culture is a treasure of knowledge, health and wisdom. It has gifted the world with several benefits, one of which is Yoga. People from far around the globe visit India to learn Yoga exercises which boost positive energy in the body assuring physical and mental well-being.
Thanks to Swami Ramdev Baba that the benefits and roots of Yoga are known to the entire world. And we, Indians are very particular about our credentials!
Accordingly, a popular American Twitter handle, Scientific American posted the benefits of ‘Cardiac Coherence Breathing’ describing how helpful it is to treat panic attacks and anxiety. While the West appreciated and accepted it, Desi people denied taking it even with a pinch of salt.
Cardiac coherence breathing exercises can stabilize the heartbeat and have a powerful ability to dampen anxiety. https://t.co/jHA8djKOsB pic.twitter.com/Ve7hM0myoW

After all, we Indians have at least once in our lives come across a Dadaji who has taught us the benefits of yoga. And so all of us are aware that ‘Cardiac Coherence Breathing’ is nothing but ‘Pranayam’. To be precise ‘Anulom Vilom Pranayam’, right?
Then what?
Obviously, it enraged our Desi Twitterati as if another patent of our country was on stake just like that of turmeric, neem or the cancer drug to be the latest. And why not?
So Indians including Congress minister Shashi Tharoor started off their Yoga classes on Twitter. And, shed light on how ‘Cardiac Coherence Breathing’ is just a basic Yoga exercise!
Detailed description of the benefits of the 2500-year-old Indian technique of pranayama, dressed up in 21st c. scientific language as "cardiac coherence breathing"! It's taking the West a few millennia to learn what our ancients taught us millennia ago, but hey, you're welcome… https://t.co/LLltRZ3pP5

This alternate nostrils breathing called Nadi Shodhana is a 5000 years old Yoga science of ancient India which is still practiced today. It balances the major nadis Ida,Pingala,Sushumna & the subtle energy centers or chakras. You'll probably learn about it in another 5000 years.

1. Steal knowledge from ancient cultures and native traditions
2. Rename it and erase origins
3. Claim it as your invention, attack native traditions as “superstition.”History of the West. These techniques come from yoga, developed over millennia of research in India.

Ancient Indian Name – Pranayam
Modern Scientific Name – Cardiac Coherence Breathing?Ancient Indian Name – Yoga Nidra
Modern Scientific Name – Lucid-Dreaming?— Rohit Kumar Jha (@blackholesmerge) January 27, 2019
We call in Pranayama in Yoga.
Incredible how Hindu Rishis had this knowledge centuries ago.🙏🙏🙏

Huh? It’s not “cardiac coherence breathing.” It’s called Pranayama and it’s been around for a long time in India. Quit stealing Hindu ideas and then renaming them.

Probably you just discovered this a few thousands of years after pranayama was.

PS: Scientific American have clearly mentioned ‘Pranayam’ in their article but not in the tweet.
Have they done it in the tweet too, they would have escaped all the fuss!
