The ending scene of any movie is where the catharsis lies. When the ending is a little less than what you expected it to be, it becomes quite the topic of speculation and tickles your brain constantly (Sometimes for days. Thanks Andhadhun) to find some meaning out of it.
Generally speaking, Martin Scorsese’s The Departed is considered a very good movie with a very bad ending, and by that I mean the very final shot.
The movie which involves a mole or a ‘rat’ infiltrating the Boston police department and a separate ‘rat’ infiltrating Boston’s biggest criminal gang, decided to end with literally a rat running along the balcony railing as the credits begin to roll.
Wow, we already have 10 backers! It's humbling to receive so much support. We're now only $3,756 away from getting rid of this little guy. pic.twitter.com/ozErkRhR8d

However, Freelance Director Adam Sacks doesn’t approve the ending and has taken up the task to fix it.
He has started an entire campaign to digitally erase the rat from the scene. But he needs $4000 USD to get the job done.
“Unfortunately The Departed has one huge problem. The movie ends with the painfully on the nose metaphor of an ACTUAL RAT crawling across screen”, he said.
Sacks added, “It’s always bothered me that a movie as good as The Departed has such a cheesy ending, and I recently realized it could be fixed by digitally erasing the rat from the last shot.”
The dude is serious and determined. He gave a step-by-step detailing about how he is going to achieve it!
“Digital effects are not cheap, which is why I’m here on Kickstarter trying to raise $4,000 dollars. $4,000 dollars may sound like a lot of money, so let me break down the costs for each of the nine steps in this process.”
Starting from buying a Blu-ray of the film, a Blu-ray player, hiring a visual effects artist, to distributing the new copies legally, Sack has it all covered.
Netizens have engaged in a lot of debate regarding Sacks noble endeavour!

The thing about the rat in THE DEPARTED is that it ruins what was otherwise a subtle, subdued, passive film. Nothing on-the-nose about it at all until the rat shows up.

THE DEPARTED is great and the rat is fine. That is this evening’s bulletin.

However, in the midst of all the chaos, there was finally sunshine!
Just within a couple of days, Sacks was able to raise the total amount and now its party time for him!
We did it! We hit $4,000 dollars! I'm so thankful to everyone who believed in this dream to digitally erase the rat from the end of The Departed. Also there's still 10 Blu-ray discs available if you want a copy. https://t.co/ppNQBXmR28

A lot could have been done with that money, tbh. But a film with an annoying ending has to be fixed!
