Twitter Floods With Memes As China Reports A Case Of Bubonic Plague

We are 6 months into 2020 and yet this year doesn’t stop surprising (read: terrifying) us. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, a suspected case of bubonic plague has now been reported in North China, reports HT.

Bubonic Plague is a rare but serious bacterial infection. It is transmitted by fleas living on wild rodents such as marmots, reports News18. A human can get bubonic plague through direct contact with an infected rodent or even by eating an infected animal, reports Times Now. China’s health authorities have announced a level III warning of plague prevention and control.

After reading about the plague, several people took to twitter to express their concerns through memes:

According to authorities, the suspected case was reported by a hospital in Bayannur where the patient reportedly ate marmot meat. Officials have warned people to not eat marmots and other animals for now.

Honestly, I wish we could skip to 2021 already because 2020 surely is disastrous. ?
