Girl Can’t Afford A New Gown For Prom, So Her Brother Makes One From Scratch, See Pics

Siblings annoy each other, get into fights and always take pleasure in roasting each other. But when it comes down to it, they’re the ones that will always have our backs. When we’re in trouble, we can count on them to be protective, supportive and extremely helpful.

According to The Filipino Times, a Culture and Arts Education student from the Philippines named Maverick Francisco Oyao decided to make a prom dress from scratch for his sister Lu Asey because their family couldn’t afford a new gown.

His sister was really excited about the prom and he wanted to do something sweet for her so he looked up ball gowns of fashion designer Michael Cinco online and drew a sketch of the outfit he wanted to create. He opted for a colour scheme in blue and white since it was a winter-themed event.

First, he cut up 9 panels for the skirt and then put on ribbons in a criss-cross pattern on each panel. Then he enlisted his mother’s help to sew them together.

Next, he purchased plastic flowers and beads to embellish the outfit and make it prettier.

The bodice was handpainted and given an ombre effect to keep with the theme of the prom. Would you believe that Maverick hasn’t studied fashion design after looking at his work?

After many sleepless nights, on February 14, his sister wore the dress and looked like a million bucks.

People applauded the brother for the sweet and thoughtful gesture. They believed that this project helped him unlock his design talent and hoped that he would get the chance to work in fashion houses in the future.

Earlier, a 10-year-old won hearts online for slipping notes and gifts through the bathroom door after he realized that his elder sister was crying inside. Brothers are the absolute best, aren’t they?
