We all have seen horse-mounted grooms entering the wedding venue accompanied by a ‘baraat’. But these desi brides decided to go the high-way by riding a horse to the groom themselves.

According to ABP News, two sisters rode horses to reach the grooms’ houses in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Sakshi and Srishti, who were to get married on the same day also decided to take the wedding procession along with them. As suggested by reports, the bride sisters who belonged to the Patidar community followed the age-old tradition of riding on the back of a horse.

The swagger sisters donned traditional clothes, a turban, black sunglasses and held swords as they rode the horses towards their grooms.

Speaking to reporters, one of the brides said that she wanted to convey the message that men and women hold equal status in society. Sharing the idea behind the unique tradition, the father of the brides said that ‘daughters should be treated equally as men in society.’

“This is an age-long tradition of the Patidar community. It is the responsibility of the society to help the government in their campaign of ‘Beti Bachao’. Daughters should be treated equally as men in society. This is the motive behind this tradition.” Reports indicate that they even their wedding invitation was Aadhaar card themed.
