Weddings, apart from being the celebration of love, have become the most elaborate affair one goes through. Especially for the brides who carry the burden and shoulder a lot of expectations. Like that isn’t enough, there is society’s mould of an ‘ideal bride’ that, let’s be honest, isn’t very accepting and accommodating.
And then, after all, ‘they’ have the audacity to call the women under extreme stress, ‘bridezilla.’ No do not get me wrong, I’m not against the pomp and show but the cakes of makeup and display of fortune on the bride to appease strangers are just appalling! If I’m not convincing enough, hear it from the horse’s mouth.
Tasnim Jara from Bangladesh just got married and she took to Facebook to share that she did so, in her grandmother’s cotton sari and no-makeup, and her reason will make home in your heart. Read her entire post here.
You can read see it here.
Nobody could have said it better. Wish more families and extended families see marriage for what it is–a beautiful union and not a staged show.
