It’s been just 4 days since the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 and we have already witnessed a couple of massive surprises. While an incredibly talented West Indies side crushed the Pakistanis at Nottingham, Bangladesh’s win over the Proteas did justice to their reputation of a growing force in world cricket.
However, Kiwi skipper, Brendon McCullum came up with a prediction of his own for the World Cup, which is being played in a league format this time.
According to the power hitter, Eoin Morgan’s England and Virat Kohli’s team India are the firm favorites to top the league standings. McCullum predicted both the teams to pick up 8 wins in the league stage with 1 loss each.
Australia, who are being considered as one of the top contenders for the trophy came third on McCullum’s list. With the return of heavyweights Steven Smith and David Warner, the Kiwi expects the Aussies to pick up 6 wins from the league matches. As far as ‘Bazz’ is concerned, the 4th spot which will mark the last semi-finalist will be an intense battle between New Zealand, west indies, South Africa and Pakistan.

All these teams have been backed to pick up 5 wins each while losing 4.
However, according to the early results, the 37-year-old has already made a major goof up. While he predicted only a single win for Bangladesh, the Tigers sensationally opened their account on Sunday with a victory over South Africa. The team led by Mashrafe Mortaza looks all set for some more epic performances in the tournament and cannot be taken lightly at any cost.
Impressive performance from @BCBtigers to defeat @OfficialCSA. I expected SA to win but Bangladesh played well. In regards to my predictions, thanks for the feedback on getting this one wrong. Won’t be the last but average at the end will look alright I think. Can’t win em all 😉

McCullum also placed West Indies at the bottom of the table alongside Bangladesh which has also turned out to be a boo-boo. The Windies bundled out the Pakistanis for a mere score of 105 to get off the mark thunderously.
