In the world of sex, between two consenting adults, there are certain things that are off-limits for one of the partners. Like, anal or BDSM or use of excessive force, et al. One partner lays the off-limits rule-book open and the other one just follows. That’s how consent works! Even Christian Grey had off-limits for Anastasia Steele.

We keep hearing stories of a date gone wrong, but none could go awry like this one. A date where you end up having consensual sex but then one party ends up getting sued.

In an unusual case of conviction, a man was found guilty of assault during consensual sex. 37-year-old medical graduate, Philip Queree, was found guilty of indecent assault after he groped his Tinder date’s breasts “really hard”.

So hard, that she was left bruised and crying in pain, later. The victim had consented to sex but had made it clear that her breasts were off limits.

The student of medicine and surgery at King’s College was found guilty during a trial in August at Jersey Magistrates Court. He pleaded not guilty but was convicted on one count of indecent assault.

According to a report published on RT, a written judgment by magistrate Bridget Shaw read,

“Queree knew this but continued to do so forcefully, causing the complainant considerable pain. This was an assault. Queree touched a sexual and intimate part of her body in a sexual manner without her consent. Irrespective of her consent to other sexual conduct, I am sure that the touching was in circumstances of indecency and thus Queree is guilty of indecent assault.”

Queree has been put on Sex Offenders’ register for the next five years as they feel he would pose a risk of sexual harm to others. In addition to the 180-hours of community service, he was ordered to pay £2,000 (₹171912) as prosecution costs. He has also been given a restraining order of 5 years which stops him from contacting the victim.

Due to the sentence, Philip’s career as a doctor has taken a hit. His defence lawyer, David Steenson said,

“Queree is in a parlous financial state, as he does not have a job. He has no savings. He has, essentially, been an academic most of his life. Going forward, he has little chance of getting work in the medical field as a result of this conviction.”

The defendant is planning on challenging his conviction, added the lawyer.

When the woman had explicitly told the man that she doesn’t want her breasts to be touched meant that she doesn’t want them to be touched. Yet, he allegedly grabbed them and exerted pressure on them, leaving her hurt. The thing with people is that the concept of consent is warped and a “NO” is taken too lightly.

“Na. Sirf ek shabd nahi, apne aap mein ek poora vakya hai. Na ka matlab na hi hota hai.”
