Boss Asks Woman To Shave After Her Colleagues Complain About Her Hairy Legs!

People around the world dish out tough but crucial lessons on the importance of self-love these days. They motivate us to get rid of the unrealistic beauty standards of society and accept our body and soul as they are.

Thankfully, women no longer abide by the conventional ideas of beauty like sleek eyebrows and size zero bodies. Don’t we all love the body positivity movement that taken over millennials and their lifestyle? But sadly, some people and workplaces clearly don’t subscribe to this school of thought.

Sharing her awkward encounter with the boss, the woman wrote in a Reddit post that she doesn’t prefer spending money on shaving her body as she is not a very hairy person.

AITA for not shaving my legs for work? from AmItheAsshole

“The only time I shave is when I’m dating a new guy in my life and I’ve been with my current boyfriend for three years now. He doesn’t give a rats a** if I shave my legs,” she wrote.

She mostly stays out on official tours and events but happened to visit her office recently to pick up some stuff when she was called in to speaks with her boss.

“He was so red and stuttering but finally he told me we needed to speak about hygiene,” she said. “I was in literal shock. I was so embarrassed and asked him what he meant,” she wrote.

“My boss then proceeded to tell me that a few people complained I didn’t shave my legs and they said it went against company policy that I wasn’t being hygienic. I was even more shocked,” she added.

“I told him I didn’t understand what that had to do with me shaving my legs and he was just absolutely quiet. I asked him if he shaved his legs and he still said nothing. I then stood up and said if we were gonna keep talking about this I’d prefer HR to be there and he just told me that we didn’t need to discuss it any further.”

She later updated the post adding that she was also sent an email by the HR regarding her conversation with the boss. She wondered if it was her fault. But Redditors came in support of her and slammed her boss for his sexist remarks.

In a world where body positivity and pics of hairy armpits are finally being embraced, incidents like this are a huge disappointment. We hope people understand that sexism needs to end!
