Bollywood produces some great movies and there’s no doubt about that. However, when it comes to science-fiction films, all you can hear is the chirping of crickets. The last (watchable) movie with anything alien in it was PK, and even that had little to do with the tropes associated with the genre.
However, worry not folks, because YouTuber Sharktimaan is here with the next best thing, accompanied by the internet’s favourite jodi at the moment: DeepVeer.
After superimposing the ‘Thain Thain’ sounds of the now iconic UP cops on a Counter-Strike game, YouTuber Sharktimaan has re-imagined Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani as a Star Wars spin-off.
The seamlessly CGI’d fan trailer contains everything from X-wings flying beside Bajirao and Mastani, to a gritty lightsaber battle between Khilji and Ratan Singh. And to top it all off, R2-D2 joins Ranveer Singh to shake its wheels to “Malhari”.

Star Wars is one of the most popular franchises that has weirdly balanced itself on the line between lavish sci-fi opera and genuinely great story-telling. And one of the only Indian directors who knows how to do that is the Sanjay Leela Bhansali. So, maybe it’s time to let him handle a spin-off based in the Indian half of the galaxy far, far away, with Sharktimaan handling the CGI department.
