Every now and then, the internet bombards us with a new optical illusion as a challenge. Yet again, an image that features many smiling faces seems to have startling netizens. The image that was reportedly posted by Lionel Page, an economist at UTC Economics has Twitterati questioning whether it is black and white or coloured.
The image tricks us into thinking that a black and white photo is actually a coloured one.
Captioning the picture, Page wrote, “This is a black and white photograph. Only the lines have colour.” But this picture has left many scratching their heads.
This is a black and white photograph. Only the lines have colour.
What you “see” is what your 🧠 predicts the reality to be, given the imperfect information it gets. pic.twitter.com/gwttlcC2Zw

The image that appears to be black and white has multi-coloured lines on them that make the image look like a coloured one. “What you “see” is what your brain predicts the reality to be, given the imperfect information it gets,” Page wrote.
Eager to know more about the sorcery, Twitter went all out with their guessing game.
What kind of sorcery is this???

The shirts appear to have colour, but skin tones are still "grey" or colourless to my brain. Is there an explanation for that, or am I just colourblind? (Slightly facetious, but I'm wondering why nonetheless.)

That’s weird because I only see the skin color, and the shirts are gray and colorless to me!

same here, shirts "are colored" while the faces remain b/w

Were you able to guess if the image was black and white or the t-shirts were coloured or it’s just the coloured lines? Because we are so confused.
