The sensational case of Ukrainian-born Natalia Grace has taken the internet by storm for the past few months. A couple who adopted Natalia back in 2009 abandoned her alleging that she isn’t a six-year-old girl (as her birth certificate states) but a 22-year-old sociopath who allegedly tried to kill the couple. Investigation and medical reports too suggested that Natalia is not a 6-year-old kid but a woman allegedly in her early twenties who apparently suffers from ‘dwarfism’.
As Natalia’s real age still remains a mystery, a case against the couple who abandoned her is underway. Meanwhile, Natalia was recently reported to have got a new family. She has been adopted by Antwon Mans, a 36-year-old pastor, his wife Cynthia. A family friend of the couple also told media that they are “Good Samaritans who came across an abandoned child in need of help” and that there is “nothing crazy going on”.
Amidst all the fuss, a woman named Anna Volodymyrivna Gava, who claims to be the biological mother of Natalia has reached out to the media. Her dramatic intervention in the case challenges the allegations made by the couple who abandoned Natalia.
“I know exactly how old she is, this girl is my daughter who was born 16 years ago,”
Anna, 40, told Daily Mail who resides in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv, near the Black Sea.
Anna continued, “She now lives in America with adoptive parents who want to ditch her. I thought everything was okay with her and it turned out that it’s not all okay.”
Anna said that she had divorced her husband and Natalia’s father before she was born. Speaking of how she after leaving her, Anna shared, “I’ve learnt that they tried to put her in a mental facility twice, that she wanted to poison, to kill someone. That’s what I read on Viber, I was sent it, and photos of her parents.”
Anna, a mother of four, said that Natalia’s severe disabilities forced her to surrender her daughter. In a plea to Natalia, Anna has asked her daughter for forgiveness, reports Mirror.
“Daughter, forgive me for what happened 16 years ago. Visit soon for me to see you. We are waiting for you. You have two sisters and two brothers,” Anna said.
After Anna left her disabled daughter, she discovered that she was named ‘Natasha’ Ukranian variation of ‘Natalia’ by social services.
