Twitter Congratulates Bhavina Patel, 1st Indian To Bag Paralympics Medal In Table Tennis

A 34-year-old para table tennis player, Bhavinaben Patel hails from Gujarat. Yesterday, she entered the final of the women’s singles at the Tokyo Paralympics. Her win yesterday assured India a medal today as she scripted history on becoming the first Indian table tennis player to secure a medal in the Paralympics. 

Her match against Borislava Peric Rankovic of Serbia in the women’s singles Class 4 event was quite a nail-biter. Yet, Bhavina’s stunning performance saw her beat the Serbian opponent who happens to be world number five 11-5, 11-6, 11-7 in a quarterfinal match.

Bhavina’s father Hasmukhbhai Patel revealed that she has been playing table tennis for the last two decades. Completely supportive of his daughter, he said, “Bhavina is definitely going to win a gold medal.”

Bhavina herself stated that her performance at the Tokyo paralympics proves that nothing is impossible. She urged Indians to bless her for the final.
