One of the many gifts that Money Heist has given its audience is ‘Bella Ciao’ – the popular Italian protest folk song. While ‘Bella Ciao’ was already popular amongst Italians, the TV series increased its popularity worldwide. Now, it’s become everyone’s jam!
However, did you know that our very own Bollywood copied the tune of the song left and right way back in 2013 for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer (flop) movie ‘Besharam’?
You read that right! A song from Besharam, ‘Love Ki Ghanti’, which is composed by Lalit Pandit, is a complete rip-off of ‘Bella Ciao’.
While ‘Bella Ciao’ was first inspired by the plight of the paddy field workers in North Italy back in 19th century who sang it while working on the field in terrible conditions, the song later became a symbol of resistance for the Italian Partisans against the German Nazis between 1943-1945.
‘Love Ki Ghanti’, on the other hand, is a song that Ranbir Kapoor’s character in ‘Besharam’ sings after falling in love.
If you haven’t heard ‘Bella Ciao’ already, now is your turn:
And here is the song from ‘Besharam’ completely ripping off a meaningful classic:
Here’s how people on the internet reacted when they first realised the connection:
Apparently while watching Money heist I've observed Love ki ghanti song from besharam has copied tune from Bella Ciao. Bollywood has literally mastered copying.#moneyheist

I’m sure you don’t know the saddest part, Besharam has a song titled ‘Love ki Ghanti’ which was a poor rip off of Bella Ciao https://t.co/5Da5WGeBbr

'Bella Ciao' has over 100 versions in the world. But guess, which is the Indian version. It's our very own "love ki ghanti" from movie "tatti" sorry "Besharam".
I mean how could you think to ruin such classics. Please Bollywood 🙏#MoneyHeist #BellaCiao #MoneyHeist4

I feel like apologising to the Italian Partisans for this grave mistake!
