Bikers and other two-wheelers making their way through the traffic by going over the footpaths is a common sight in India. There’s really not much you can do when the traffic is getting worse with each passing day. But the footpath is for the pedestrians and vehicles going over that is just putting innocent lives at risk.
Manju Thomas, a Bengaluru woman, stubbornly stands on a footpath every evening to stop two-wheelers from going over it. Pavan Kumar shared a video of her brave act on Facebook and it’s been garnering a lot of attention ever since.
The video shows her arguing with two men on a white Activa trying to manoeuvre their way over the sidewalk. The men try using Kannada to abuse her because she doesn’t understand the language. However, she stood there stubbornly and reasoned with them. She said,
“You and I both have been in schools teaching us what is a red light. You know when you’re supposed to go on a footpath. And if you still don’t know, then I am telling you, sir, this is wrong.”
