Admit it, dogs make the most loyal pets and there are no two ways about it. These four-legged angels not only give us companionship but also lend the required emotional support, reduces our stress levels and loneliness. But the best part? You can cuddle them all you want and they will happily give in.
However, you got to be angry if someone comes between you and your pet and that is exactly what has happened in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru’s civic body, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) has taken the decision to limit the number of pets allowed in a single flat to just one while independent houses can have a maximum of three dogs. Speaking about the same, Bengaluru Mayor, Sampath Raj said,
Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a new pet dog licensing regulations to limit the number of pet dogs that can be reared in apartments and individual houses.

“New pet licensing scheme from BBMP has mandated that only one approved dog can be reared in a flat while an independent house cannot have more than three dogs.”
The new rule also asks the dog owners to get hold of a license with a radio collar with an embedded chip. Any dog parent found without the license shall be fined a sum of Rs. 1000.
According to activists, the move is a not a logical one as it may lead to the abandoning of pet dogs. TOI quoted Priya Chetty Rajagopal, citizen activist and founder of Cubbon Park Canines,
“While I think microchipping and fining those who do not pick up their dog’s poop from public spaces are steps in the right direction, how can the Palike tell people how many dogs they should keep?”
The decision by the civic body has left the dog parents in the city fuming and Twitter was flooded with people voicing their opinion against the same under the #NotWithoutMyDog hashtag.
How can you drive out these innocent souls?
Hi @BBMPCOMM I can't believe you would pass such a ridiculous law of limiting the number of dogs per house and not listing stray dogs as legal. Great way to celebrate world environment day by not allowing people to rescue dogs into loving homes. #bbmp #NotWithoutMyDog pic.twitter.com/L6qqWrHB3k

Clean our city of the breeder menace first, @BBMPCOMM; Outlaw pet shopping, the purchase of breed puppies; Attack the real problem, the flesh trade of breed pets, instead of running amok over our constitutional rights. @BBMP_MAYOR pic.twitter.com/wbZL0MYyR6— Rekha Saleela Nair (@rekha_s_nair) June 6, 2018

Shocked by the move
Absolutely appalled by this ruling on number of dogs per house. Why not number of children per house then? Have the law makers taken leave of their senses? #notwithoutmydog https://t.co/721hBWJDhs

#notwithoutmydog My dogs are part of my family. #BBMP has proved that they don't consider dogs to be living beings but a thing that people own and can throw away as they please. Their new rules will hamper rescue efforts!

So glad my kids are not in Bangalore. How would I, otherwise, choose one of them? Oh wait, #BBMP says Indies are illegal! So, I would have to give up both of them. #nonsenselaws #notgivingup pic.twitter.com/CzrRIjLcmn— Richa Kashyap (@Richa250488) June 6, 2018

This is not cool BBMP! You just can’t draw a line between our pets and us!
