Bengaluru Man Creates Schoolbag That Turns Into A Desk So Poor Kids No Longer Hunch

If you visit schools in rural parts of the country, you will find that many have a shortage of desks and chair for the students. Kids are found sitting on the floors, hunching to read and write which often leaves them with severe back pain and ailments.

To prevent this problem, a 24-year-old Bengaluru guy named Himanshu Muneshwar Deore teamed up with local artisans to design a schoolbag which turns into a desk!

According to TOI, Himanshu turned down job opportunities in corporate firms to work on this project. He travelled to Uttar Pradesh and collaborated with artisans to design the bag with locally grown moonj grass.

“I had always wanted to work on something to help children who are struggling with posture issues because of the lack of desks in schools. Back in my hometown, I had seen how kids hunch over their books for hours. It looked painful,” he said.

The schoolbag can carry a total load of 3 kgs. It is designed keeping in mind the health of the shoulders and backs of kids. The bag has two straps for kids to carry it and two metal stands that support the side of the bags and can be turned into legs for the desk.

Himanshu is currently working towards a better design for the bag and hopes for it to reach as many kids as possible.

Kudos to him for coming up with a brilliant idea! We hope that after using the bag, kids no longer have to suffer from bad posture.
