Ayurveda has its roots in India. We’ve all grown up reaping the benefits of the super healthy natural home remedies like Turmeric milk, Aloe Vera, Neem, Tulsi etc. etc. And so, Indians are knowingly or unknowingly well-aware of the health benefits of several plants, trees and herbs found around in the country.
And surely, preachings about the miraculous health benefits of these plants and trees we’ve run around our entire childhood do not astonish us at all! Thanks to our Desi mothers and their kadwa kadhas!
But all these surprising health benefits coming from just a random tree, do leave the West in awe. And we can feel you guys!
Similarly, impressed with the miraculous health benefits of the Moringa tree, that is, drumstick, Erik Solheim retweeted World Economic Forum’s post that elaborated the medicinal uses of the tree.
The moringa tree from India is a disease fighting super hero.
It can purify water, be used as bio fertilizer and help treat serious diseases. It may be a future super food. Amazing! 👍— Erik Solheim (@ErikSolheim) February 10, 2019
While the West was surprised to know the superpowers of the Moringa tree, Desi Twitter was left with a question mark wondering what was so exciting about it?
Because Indians belonging to the South have eaten the drumsticks all their lives in Sambhar, while those from the East have had it in the form of Curry since childhood. I remember my mother boiling the Drumsticks with salt and pepper to serve it as a side for dinner.
What next?
Desi Twitter did not take a moment to start schooling the West about the benefits of our very own Drumsticks. And believe us, they did a better job than WEF!
You will find this tree in mostly all Indian Homes. The Drum stick is a major ingredient in our most famous veg gruel called SAMBAR🤣🤣🤣

Least I'm glad you set context about tree's origin! No offense meant Erik, just off-late we see way too many things/science known/used/practiced from India being appropriated differently (may be i'm looking for word plagiarism), Cardiac Coherence Breathing (!) aka 'pranayama'!

I am very proud to say that the moringa's leaf is one of the best for preparing curry and almost all part of trees are essential medicine.
In my home, I have been seeing moringa tree for last 30 years and never forget to include food that prepared from leaves and drum sticks— Prigith Joseph (@JosephPrigith) February 10, 2019
Remember the incident when the West tried to preach the practice of our age-old Pranayam tagging it as “Benefits of coherence breathing”? Desi Twitter even then tackled the situation with fitting replies and sarcasm.
Anyways, would you love to add any other benefits of Moringa to the list? Do let us know!
