BBC Displayed Nepalese Currency While Reporting On Demonetisation And Reddit Lost Its Shit

The BBC has been at the forefront of unbiased, honest and credible journalism for a better part of the century. The news outlet has been known to break some of the biggest stories, have some of the most well-researched editorial pieces and also make some brilliant wildlife documentaries!

However, as seen in a screenshot posted on Reddit, the BBC made a monumental screw-up when they displayed the Nepalese currency when reporting on the recent demonetisation move by India.

Someone definitely got fired for this. The notes say it in big bold letters ‘Nepal Rashtriya Bank’!

Soon after the picture was posted, Indian Redditors had a lot to say to the BBC.

1. Should seriously consider this advice.

2. Such creative. Much wow.

3. This just reeks of disappointment.

4. I agree with this one. They should know.

5. A huge NEWS organisation should be excused for factual errors?!

I honestly am in disbelief that the BBC has committed such a huge blunder. I hate to play the colonisation card here but seriously, didn’t the lack of Mahatma Gandhi on the front not give you a hint?!
