Every year, the month of June is celebrated the world over as Pride Month. This year, it also marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising (that took place on June 28, 1969) which is heralded as the beginning of the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement. The community sports the rainbow that symbolises its diversity and inclusivity. And organises marches and parades across the globe.
One such proud supporter fashioned a unique Rainbow Pride Turban which quickly went viral online. Jiwandeep Kohli, a California-based neuroscientist and amateur pastry chef added 6 colourful strips to his black turban to create this masterpiece.
I’m proud to be a bisexual bearded baking brain scientist. I feel fortunate to be able to express all these aspects of my identity, and will continue to work toward ensuring the same freedom for others. #PrideMonth #PrideTurban #LoveIsLove pic.twitter.com/SVhc0iwDF0

Jiwandeep, who identifies as a bisexual himself, garnered 20,000 retweets and 144,000 likes on his positivity-oozing photo. His hard work also caught the attention of former US president Barack Obama who shared his tweet and declared that his turban looked amazing.
Barack Obama appreciated Jiwandeep’s efforts and thanked him for supporting equality.
You've got a lot to be proud of, Jiwandeep. Thanks for everything you do to make this country a little more equal. Turban looks great, by the way. Happy Pride Month, everybody! https://t.co/SO7mgnOkgl

Barack Obama has always inspired us with his words as well as actions. Be it embracing feminism and introducing himself as “Michelle’s husband” or standing against toxic masculinity and talking about what being a man really means, he has always led by example. Him lending his voice for the LGBTQIA+ community meant a great deal to everyone.
Here is what everyone thought of his participation.
President Obama sharing this story means so much to so many of us. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
