2020-2021 has been a tough time for students. Because of the ongoing pandemic, the way schools and colleges functioned changed entirely. Not only did students have to adapt to the new normal, but also had to make do with online classes and sit for their board exams amidst the threat of being infected with Covid-19.
Which is why when HDFC bank in Madurai released an ad calling candidates for walk-in interviews barring those who passed out in 2021, many people were left disappointed. According to Times Now, the ad mentioned, “2021 passed out candidates are not eligible”.
Have a look at the ad here:
People called out the bank for being insensitive and questioned why they wouldn’t accept candidates who passed out this year.
This is atrocitious! @HDFC_Bank pic.twitter.com/2erLBtuG9Z

However, after facing backlash, HDFC tweeted a clarification wherein they claimed that the ad had a typo.
Hi Gayathri, this is a typo and we regret the error. Graduates can apply irrespective of the year of passing as long as they meet the age criteria. We have already issued the correct advertisement shared here. -Zubin
