Bangalore Man Allegedly Works On Laptop While Riding A Bike On Flyover, Sparks Debate Online

We are aware of how toxic the work culture can get in a majority of companies. And many employees working in different companies have shared their ordeal in the past – how they were expected to work after office hours or even during vacations, how they have no work-life balance whatsoever, etc.

However, a debate sparked on LinkedIn after a man named Harshmeet Singh posted a picture of a man working on a laptop while riding a bike.

Singh assumed that the man is probably being terrorized by his boss for getting some work done. He urged employers to not force work on their employees.

“11pm, Bangalore – One of the busiest flyovers in the city, and here is a pillion rider working on his laptop. If you as a Boss have been able to terrorize your colleagues to meet the deadline at the cost of their own safety, it is time for you to think again. Let’s use the phrase ‘IT’S URGENT’ and ‘DO IT ASAP’ more carefully, especially if you are in a position of power. You have no idea the impact these words have on the lives of your subordinates,” he wrote.

That the incident took place in Bangalore is a claim that has been made by Harshmeet Singh and it cannot be guaranteed that the rider is using his laptop for office work purposes.

Even if we assume that the man is being pressurized by his boss to get some work done, the onus ultimately falls on the man because he could have easily stopped his bike at a safer location and gotten the work done instead. Here’s what people under the comments section said:

No amount of “urgent work” can be used as an excuse for an act like this. I’m sure the boss could have waited for a few minutes. If he couldn’t, he isn’t a good boss and maybe the man shouldn’t work for him anymore. What do you think?
