Luxury Brand Balenciaga Sells Garbage Bags Called ‘Trash Pouch’ For ₹1.4 Lakhs

Balenciaga is one of those brands that take inspiration from poor people and sell poor-people-things to rich people. They sold pishwis for Rs 1.5 lakhs, blanket bags for over Rs 2 lakhs, and phate huye sneakers for Rs 48,000. Lower-middle-class lifestyle for them is an aesthetic, it seems.

And now, Balenciaga is selling trash-bag-looking bags for Rs 1.4 lakhs. Literal trash bags, I’m not kidding.

According to NDTV, they come in 4 colours – white, blue, black and yellow. You could carry your regular trash bag around and call it ‘Balenciaga’ and no one will bat an eye.

According to New York Post, these bags are called “trash pouch” and are made out of calfskin leather and have a glossy coating. The bag further has a discreet logo and drawstrings that can be pulled to close them. It has made its way to stores for the brand’s Fall 2022 collection.

“I couldn’t miss an opportunity to make the most expensive trash bag in the world, because who doesn’t love a fashion scandal?” said Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia.

People couldn’t believe that trash bags are “fashion” now. Here’s how they reacted:

Waiting for Balenciaga to copy hawai chappal and call it “luxury fashion”.
