If you want to watch out-of-the-box, refreshing, nerve-tickling films, then Ayushmann Khurrana is your man. With some of the most imaginative films to his name like Vicky Donor, Andhadhun, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Badhaai Ho, and the recent Dream Girl under his name, one would think that he has a formulaic taste in unformulaic films!
And now, the man is back again with ‘Bala’. From all that was revealed from the trailer, ‘Bala’ is the story of a young man suffering from premature balding and his struggles to change and eventually accept his condition. Aside from Ayushmann Khurrana, we see Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in the lead.
Watch the trailer here:
The film has had its fair share of controversies – like choosing a fair-skinned actress to play a dark-skinned role and the film’s striking similarities with earlier released Ujda Chaman.
However, ‘Bala’ has hit the theatres today and it seems like the Ayushmann Khurrana charm has worked. So if you’re planning to watch ‘Bala’, read these tweets first:

Bala is not just a movie but also its critique which questions the stereotypes set by our cinema about beauty
For those who dare to compare it with #UjdaChaman, one request: Please do not. Just go watch #BalaMovie@ayushmannk the 21st Century Midas pic.twitter.com/unev4yZIUC

#bala and #UjdaChaman are just like #omg and #pk , both have same concept, same story, difference is only of star cast and music. #bala has much better punches, jokes, and screenplay then #ujdachamn so it is great for this weekend. Go and enjoy. @AushmanKhurana @yamigautam 🙏 pic.twitter.com/aXIueMGK7a

In #Bala they have casted a fair skined actress and brown faced her to play the character of a dark skined person. Also they have yami gautam as a lead actor who's promoting fair and lovely since ages..and they wanna promote self love.. The irony in this one…

#Bala is definitely one of the finest movies in @ayushmannk 's list. It surely leaves an impact about lot of things we ignore in day to day life. Getting life lessons with a smiling cheek has always been the best way to learn. Loved the movie. A must watch 👍 #balareview

Seriously makers of BALA….you could not find one dark skinned female in the whole of the country to play your 'Latika' . No offence to Bhumi, who is wonderful. But just could not enjoy the whole thanks to the whole black-facing of the character. #BALA
