Scared Baby Chimp Who Saw Her Mother Get Killed By Poachers Refuses To Come Out Of Blanket

While animal cruelty has been a reality since long, we have seen a massive rise in poaching and hunting in the last decade. And if there is one species who is facing the heat of human destruction, it is the chimpanzees. These great apes are considered to be a highly endangered bunch of animals who are being pushed towards extinction by humans.

This brings us to a heartbreaking video of a baby chimp which is powerful enough to reduce you to tears.

The clip which is going viral since its release features a baby chimpanzee, rescued in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The poor creature can be seen as extremely scared and hesitant to come out of her blanket.

She goes on to eat a couple of bananas given to her but from within the blanket over her.

The reason behind the same lies in the horrific sight she witnessed before being saved from the merciless eyes of the poachers. The little animal had seen her mother being killed by poachers for the purpose of trade in front of her eyes.

Here is the video:

After a long trip of more than 300km, by moto, boat and car, she has arrived safely to Lwiro. After witnessing the murder of her mum, this little girl was kept attached to a rope inside a plastic bag in the bushes waiting for a “buyer”. She is smart and independent (probably forced to be), but she keeps hiding herself under the blanket. Maybe as consequence of being kept in a bag for days, maybe because she just wants to hide herself from the world… it will take time to make her laugh again, to see her play and behave as a chimpanzee. The good news is that she is eating well. She is coming from a red zone, an unsecured area, where three other babies (that we know of) have died because we were not able to rescue them. This is the reality, she is the “lucky” one.#stoppoaching #stopextinction #chimpsarenotpets

Speaking about the same, the wildlife organization said,

“It will take time to make her laugh again, to see her play and behave as a chimpanzee. The good news is that she is eating well.”

It is unfortunate that we, humans, are constantly taking the lives of these beautiful creatures for our own selfish needs. The brutality needs to stop and right now.
