In the past couple of years, there have been many violent incidents in southern parts of India, especially Karnataka, because of the language divide. Many Kannadigas have become hostile towards Hindi-speaking people from the North and insist on them learning the local language instead of expecting Kannadigas to speak in Hindi. This has led to the development of a very hot-and-cold relationship between the North and the South.
However, one Kannadiga autorickshaw driver has come up with an easy and friendly way to help non-Kannada-speaking people to learn the local tongue. The autorickshaw driver put up a laminated card in front of the backseat that translated commonly used phrases that are used while travelling via public transport.
The card contains translations of phrases like ‘Sir, ride a bit faster’, ‘Sir, how much?’, ‘Do you accept UPI or only cash?’, etc.
