Australian Man Speaks Flawless Hindi And Bhojpuri, Video Goes Viral

I studied French for 6 years, both academically and out of personal interest. However, I lost touch with the language and I doubt I can even form one fluent sentence today.

Then there are those people who pick up a new language just by listening to locals around them.

Like this Australian man right here. He speaks absolutely fluent Hindi and Bhojpuri with the right ‘uchcharan’ and boy, it will put us all to shame.

He has lived in India from 1972 to 1978 and picked up English words in Bhojpuri accent. He has spent a good amount of time in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, so much so that he speaks the language as fluently as any local.

Indians who came across him were intrigued by his fluency of speech and recorded him on their phones. The video has since gone viral and rightly so.

Meet Australian with Bhojpuri touch

According to him, the trick is to pick up even English words in desi accent and you’re good to go.

He says,

“The first word I learned was ‘diversion’. And he said, isko ‘die-vhur-shun’ kehte hai.”

He speaks Hindi so well that he says when someone asks him where he is from, he says he’s a Kashmiri Pandit.

He has also lived and worked in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal. So he would return to India whenever he would get a chance. In fact, he is returning to India now to start a company.

He jokingly said,

“Budhapa aa gaya, lekin main fir bhi laut raha hu.”

Isn’t this terrific? It’s so cool to see a foreign national speak our languages, both Hindi and Bhojpuri with so much love and fluency, no?
