Australian Batsman Gets Dismissed In One Of The Most Bizarre Ways Possible, Netizens LOL

It’s natural to experience glitches while playing your favourite cricket based video-games. Some programming error might cause the ball to fall in the ocean or a player might start to run weirdly. But witnessing those glitches in real life is kind of strange.

In the past few months, the cricketing world has seen a lot of oddities. A bowler from UP made everyone’s head spin right round, right round with his technique. Two Pakistani batsmen were involved in the most hilarious run-out of all time. And now Australia has joined the list with a bizarre dismissal.

According to NDTV, Australian batsman Hilton Cartwright took on leg-spinner Jason Sangha and executed a decent pull shot. However, instead of finding the boundary, the ball found the short-leg fielder.

You saw that right. The ball bounced off of short-leg fielder Nick Larkin’s helmet and came straight into Sangha’s hands. And while Cartwright was sent back to the pavilion, Larkin was checked by the medical staff and given a new helmet to continue playing.

Now, if you’re wondering how could this be considered a fair dismissal, allow me to fill you in. According to earlier laws, a batsman couldn’t be dismissed if a ball bounced off of a fielder’s helmet. However, after the passing of Aussie batsman Phillip Hughes, it was changed. The rule was put into place by Cricket Australia and applied internationally by the ICC.

Netizens who watched this dismissal unfold before their eyes were taken by surprise and they reacted accordingly.

So, just in case there’s a short-leg fielder in place, please don’t try to pull if you aren’t a 100% sure. Or else you might end up getting dismissed like this. And if you are the short-leg fielder, make sure that you have a good quality helmet on your head.
