This Artist Is Trolling People Who Ask For Free Drawings, One ‘Masterpiece’ At A Time!

If there’s anything that creative people hate the most in the world (apart from not making enough money) are freeloaders. You know, the ones that have the gall to ask them to make/write/draw/create something for them without compensating the artist for their efforts.

And it’s not necessarily strangers who do it. More often than you’d know, these people are friends or acquaintances who just want to take advantage of their personal relations with the artist to avoid paying a professional fee.

Jon Arton is an artist from Birmingham, UK, who creates some spell-binding pieces of art and shares them on his Instagram.

He draws a lot of subjects. Like this stunning charcoal stretch of Hugh Jackman from Logan…

…or this prismacolour one of the King of the basketball court, LeBron James!

Just looking at these incredible artworks, anyone can easily guess that Jon is a professional, who puts in tremendous hard work and effort in each of them.

And yet, some people have the audacity to DM him and ask him to make them a drawing FOR FREE! So what did Jon do? Well, he gave into their demands. Almost!

These people, who called themselves his fans, had shown some respect for his art, but not enough to pay him for it. So Jon too decided to respect their requests for a free drawing, but not exactly!

About a month ago, Jon began sharing screenshots of his Instagram DMs where he had received requests for free drawings, and where he had sent those people said free drawings!

Those who loved what Jon pulled here, and are also connoisseurs of this brand of sarcasm will appreciate the caption he added to the post!

“As a full time artist who relies on selling art to survive, these requests come as a real treat and it means a lot to me to be given the opportunity to put the years of practice, time and the expensive materials into a free drawing of your face for yourself.”

I can practically hear every creative professional who’s ever been made such a request go “Yaaaaaaaaaas SLAY!” right now!

Oh, wait! Did you think there was only one request? Jon has been sharing several such conversation screenshots where he generously acquiesced to these ridiculous demands!

I, for one, think it’s only fair!

Like this one, where a portrait of a dogg was requested and also, shall I say, delivered!

Just for comparison, let me show you what would have been the end product had the person offered to pay Jon for his work.

I feel like Jon was rather generous!

Then someone went all out and asked for one of Michael Jackson! Commissioning the King’s portrait for free? Shame!

What was rather frustrating was the sense of entitlement in the people making those requests. One of them was brazen enought to tell the artist that he was “in it just for the money”!

Do we tell that to doctors or lawyers too when they charge us for evern the damnedest thing?

You have to give it to the artist for sticking with his trolling in the face of these incessant requests!

“Oh you don’t do it for free?” Well, sure he does! Only, you won’t like what free looks like!

Here’s a personal favourite! This one person who asked Jon for a drawing, and when was asked for money, confessed that they were broke!

One thing we can all agree to is that Jon was a very accomodating artist, who made do with every kind of request.

Another day, another free art post. It’s that time again! The time where I utilise the years of experience I have built up mastering my craft, years and years of painstaking hard work, stress and struggle. All for this moment. Creating hyper realistic, renaissance level master pieces of your faces FOR FREE! It’s not an easy task creating fine art from poorly taken, out of focus selfies with snapchat filters but I’m no average artist. I have become a master at enhancing your plain, mediocre faces. Like a fashion model photographer in post production I enhance eyes, whiten teeth and remove the dry skin from the end of your nose….I think it’s dry skin, might be a bogey. I present you in your best possible light! Enjoy! 😉

There’s always one with the broke BF/GF excuse asking to make an exception, isn’t there?

Great work, Jon! As we Indians like to say to anyone overstepping their aukaat, “Itna paisa mein itnaaich milega!” And here toh there’s no paisa at all! Besides, remember what the greatest artist of our time said?
