Russian Artist Uses Plants & Veggies To Create Natural Makeup & Costumes, See Pics

Art cannot be restricted and an artist can get his inspiration from the most unusual places. They can often turn a piece of scrap into an amazing masterpiece and give a rustic place a beautiful makeover. Like these Delhi artists who transformed a slum with colourful murals or this Japanese artist who created a miniature room hidden inside his power outlet. But this 24-year-old model and artist has been creating eye-catching masterpieces by just using plants, vegetables, leaves, flowers and other natural materials.

A resident of Moscow, Russia, Katya has been showcasing her creativity by giving a ‘natural’ makeover to models, friends and family, reports Mail Online. Influenced by the work of artists like Isa Genzken, Pipilotti Rist and Donald Judd, she arranges natural ingredients like flower petals, grass, tree branches, vegetables, dried leaves, and other similar items available at her disposal to create an unconventional piece of art.

A fashion enthusiast who grew up in the Russian countryside, Katya finds inspiration from her surroundings and the natural souvenirs she has been receiving from her parents when they travelled. She is often inspired by things she sees when she’s in a shop, walking or in her parent’s garden. “Even if it’s not natural for a person to use press-on nails, at the if same time, if he or she feels it’s organic, then it’s beautiful. To me, beauty is not about aesthetics, but about feelings,” she said.

She also revealed that she often ‘grows the items featured in her art project.’ Katya often shares the pictures of her creations on her Instagram where she goes by the name thundergirl_xtal. Some people might find it weird, but those with a knack for such abstract artwork are definitely going to love them.

Here are some of her other creations:

Aren’t they beautiful? I think it’s the best way to make use of the things that often end up in dustbins. Weird or beautiful, you decide!
