But little do we know that the ‘Gunday’ actor started his journey in Bollywood as an assistant director for the 2003 movie ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love’ in 2007. But the actor we see today, with a chiseled body and toned abs, once suffered from body shaming and faced a lot of flack online because of the way he looked back then.

That’s one of the reasons why he decided to come in front of the camera hoping that it would motivate him to lose those extra kilos as he felt he was “going into a slump.”

“Body shaming is something that I experienced in the last five years, to varying degrees,” The Indian Express quoted him saying. “For example, when I didn’t look the way I was looking in ‘Gunday’ or ‘2 states’. It was a bit confusing for me to see why people would be not okay if my size changed a little bit or if I fluctuate, but then I realized that the field and profession that I am in and the kind of material I was choosing to do, needed me to look a certain way.”

In an interview discussing his decade-long acting journey in the Hindi film industry, Arjun also spoke about his bond with his dad, filmmaker Boney Kapoor. He called his connection with his sister Anshula Kapoor ‘overlapping’ and said, “We are emotionally designed the same way. We’ve been brought up by our mother in a certain way together so we are two sides of the same coin.”

Talking about his step-sisters Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, Arjun revealed, “For me to find similarities only stems from comparison to how they are similar to dad because I haven’t been able to sit down and analyze it. I can discover those relationships now.”

He further divulged that he annoys his sisters with his humor. But added, “I hate creating this fake perception that we are one happy family living under the roof and discussing everything. We have discussed many things, and we continue to do that. But it’s still a very intimate space for us to come out so openly and speak about. I’m always there to give my two cents on my experience,” he added.

Another important person in his life nowadays is actress and model Malaika Arora. Both of them are rumoured to be dating and their cozy and intimate pictures together testify the claims.

However, they have also been receiving a lot of hate online because of the age difference between them. Talking of it, he said, “Firstly, I think that the media is the one who goes through the comments from people. We don’t even look at 90% of it so the trolling cannot be given so much importance, because it’s all fake.”

“Those same people will be dying to take a selfie with me when they meet me, so you cannot believe that narrative. What I do in my personal life is my prerogative. As long as my work is being recognized, the rest is all just a lot of noise.”

“Plus, you can’t be so bothered about whose age is what so we should just live, let live and move on, I think is it’s a silly thought process to look at age and contextualize a relationship,” DNA quoted him saying.

Even though they have made their lives private, it doesn’t give people the free pass to criticize them for every choice they make. Live and let live. ✌️
