Anurag Kashyap To Pen A Script Based On Quentin Tarantino’s Revenge-Drama ‘Kill Bill’

If you ask any film fan about who their favourite directors are, Quentin Tarantino and Anurag Kashyap’s names are bound to pop up. And why shouldn’t they? Both of them have produced some of the greatest films of the 21st century like ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘The Hateful Eight’, ‘Reservoir Dogs’, ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Raman Raghav 2.0’, and the list goes on.

Now, in a rare stroke of luck or destiny (whatever you’d like to call it), according to Mumbai Mirror, Anurag Kashyap and Quentin Tarantino’s styles are going to mash up for a Nikhil Dwivedi-produced film. A source said,

“Anurag has not taken on an independent writing project in a decade. He only scripted films he produced or directed. He is really kicked about this collaboration.”

That’s true. While Kashyap has written for ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Ugly’, ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’ etc., none of them have solo writing credits. So, it’ll be interesting to see him take on Quentin Tarantino’s classic story about a bride who’s out to take revenge on his husband.

Reportedly, after producing the massively successful ‘Veere Di Wedding’, Nikhil Dwivedi has planned to produce one woman-centric film every year. And he’s glad to rope in Anurag for his next project. The source said,

“They are happy to finally collaborate on a subject close their hearts.”

Apparently, the makers have already approached an A-list actress and will be finalising all the necessary paperwork within the next few days. Dwivedi plans to shoot the film in Bhutan, Sikkim, Japan and Mumbai.

So, while Anurag Kashyap works on paying homage to Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’, let’s partake in a bit of fan-casting, shall we?

Although Quentin Tarantino is associated with violence, his movies tick because of how he deconstructs the human psyche through dialogue. And since Anurag Kashyap has an affinity for that as well, he’s the perfect choice to adapt ‘Kill Bill’ for the Indian audience. What are your thoughts on this project? Let me know in the comments.
