Back in 2020, Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who worked with Bollywood actor Abhay Deol in the movie ‘Dev. D’ said in an interview that working with Deol was ‘painfully difficult‘.
“The benefits and luxuries of being a ‘Deol’. He would stay in a five-star hotel while the entire crew stayed in Paharganj for a film that was made on a very tight budget. Also the reason a lot of his directors went away from him,” Kashyap had alleged.

Years later when Deol was asked what he felt about Kashyap calling him ‘high maintenance’, the ‘Chopsticks’ actor said that the filmmaker is a ‘gaslighter’.
“Where I come from, I know I have been gaslit for who I am. You call in a lot of aggression to you because you’re doing something and managing to get away with that,” he had said.
Reacting to Kashyap claiming that Abhay demanded a five-star hotel, Abhay in another interview, said that Kashyap was a ‘liar’ and a toxic person.
“He went in public and said a lot of lies about me. So, one lie I’ll give you, for example, is that I demanded a hotel room. He actually came up to me and said, ‘Listen, you can’t stay with us, you are a Deol so I’m going to put you up in a hotel room’. He literally told me that, I am saying this on camera. And what he told the press was, I demanded it.”

Now recently, Deol was quoted saying that he would warn people about Kashyap.
“I had my heart on my sleeve, and all that is great but you get taken advantage of, and then you get reactive. So, he (Anurag Kashyap) was a good lesson for me. Then I just avoided him, because I don’t need toxic people in my life. Life is too short, and there is so much more to explore. But he (Anurag) is definitely a liar and a toxic person. And I would warn people about him,” Deol said.
After the word fell into Kashyap’s ear, he said that he had already personally apologized to Deol for saying what he had said in the past.
“It is okay if that is how he feels. Everyone has his own version of the truth. Maybe he felt attacked about what I had spoken about him earlier. I have personally apologized to him for hurting his feelings,” Hindustan Times quoted him saying.
Now, the ‘Dobaara’ director feels that let bygones be bygones.
“What I said was what he was [like] in the past. We all evolve with time. He has done a great job in [Trial by Fire]. I think it is time to celebrate his strong performance rather than playing the ping-pong of who said what.”
So much has happened over the years between these two celebs. We hope they get over the past and collab in good faith once again to give us another blockbuster like ‘Dev D’.
