His childhood grew up in poverty with his parents toiling on the land to feed them. Ansar Shaikh’s father was addicted to alcohol while his mother worked on farmland. But he decided to go the highway and applied for the civil services exam and there he reportedly scored 199 out of 275.

His younger brother, Anees dropped out of school and worked in a garage to support the family and help Ansar to prepare for the IAS exam. But all their pain transformed into happiness when he cleared the UPSC 2016 in his first attempt. At the young age of 21, Ansar Shaikh created history and became India’s youngest IAS officer.

He also has a message for IAS aspirants. “If you think your competition is with other lakhs of aspirants who give the exam, you are mistaken. Your only competition is you. So get rid of all of your pessimistic thoughts and success will come your way.”

Nothing is impossible unless you think it is. Kudos to him.
