Innumerable crimes have been committed by people in a bid to protect the sanctity of their caste and religion. Things are so bad that if you begin to list out the crimes committed in the name of religion, you would want to renounce the world, by the time you reach the end of it.
A similar crime was committed on 1st February 2018, when a 23-year-old boy Ankit Saxena was killed by the family members of the girl he loved. Ankit was murdered in West Delhi by the father and uncle of the girl, who slit his throat in front of his mother. There were dozens of people who just stood there for a good 20 minutes while the boy writhed in pain and ultimately succumbed.
But even after losing their young boy to such a horrific crime, Ankit’s parents have appealed for peace as they did not want communal violence in the area. After Ankit was killed, there has been a lot of tension among communities but Ankit’s family and friends have come out with a beautiful initiative.
Ankit was supposed to be turning 24 today according to Navbharat Times, and while his parents have still not gotten over their grief of losing their beloved boy, they have organised a ‘Bhandara’ to remember him.

“They’ll be serving people from all faiths and religion.”
Police had deployed heavy personnel duty to avoid communal clashes at the spot where Ankit was killed. His friends expect about 1,000 people to show up.
Yashpal Saxena, Ankit’s father hopes that anti-social elements, would not interfere with the function and “try to provoke us like they did after Ankit’s death”. Ankit’s mother wanted to conduct a ‘Kirtan’ on the occasion of his birthday and Ankit had promised her that he would bear all the expenses.
In a video by The Quint, Ankit’s father can be heard talking about having a Havan for peace, where prayers from every faith will be recited. His friends are also proud of their initiative and want to always remember their ‘Awaara boy’ in spirit.

It makes our eyes well up with tears seeing so much strength and courage in his family and friends. They are fighting for justice for their son and trying to spread the message of peace so dedicatedly.
