India continues its fairytale run at the Commonwealth games 2018 with over 25 medals to the country’s name already. The Indian participants have been putting up a sensational display of class and performance at the Gold Coast and nothing makes us prouder.
While the likes of Sushil Kumar and Mary Kom have lived up to their towering expectations, something extraordinary marked the 13th of April which stole the show.
Anish Bhanwala, the pistol sensation from Haryana, helped the country to win its 16th gold of the tournament breaking its previous record of 15, achieved last time in Glasgow. And hear this, he is only 15 years old.
According to TOI, Anish who was honoured with Emerging Player of the Year at the Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA), made his debut at the Belmont Shooting Centre this year competing in the six-man men’s 25m rapid fire pistol event. And boy! has he announced himself in style.
With a jaw-dropping performance in the finals and a record score of 30, Anish became the youngest Indian gold medallist at the CWG. Crazy stuff, right?
The teenager overcame tough fights from 20-year-old Australian shooter Sergei Evglevski and 28-year-old Sam Gowin of England, but kept his composure to ace the chart.
Following the incredible feat, the country came together on Twitter to applaud the youngster.
