It made all of us really uncomfortable when the news of a drunk man flashing and peeing on a 70-year-old female passenger on an Air India flight made headlines a month after the incident actually happened.
The accused man faced the consequences only when the victim wrote a letter to Air India and explained to them in detail what happened to her. An FIR was filed against him and he was put on their no-fly list.
This incident is definitely condemnable but no one wants to be grossed out by knowing the graphic details of it. But an Indian news channel thought it would be appropriate to show in detail, via an animated video, how things actually unfolded on the flight.
(As if the details provided by the victim were not enough.) In their report about the incident, India Today graphically showed how it all happened.
The lady passenger had informed that she’d just finished lunch and the lights were switched off at the cabin.
The drunk man onboard the New York-Delhi flight came up to her.
The man, unzipped and began urinating over her. After he was done with his business, he simply walked back and sat in his seat.
After the furious woman complained, she was offered a crew seat for the rest of the flight.
Taking to Twitter, a journalist named Abhishek Baxi shared a screenshot of the video and wrote, “India Today had to visually explain peeing to its viewers.”

People online were equally appalled, trying to figure out the necessity of making a graphical representation of the incident.
This guy seems interested in a curious, yet polite manner… pic.twitter.com/f0RnK65Max

Thank you team @IndiaToday for clarifying, I was thinking they both were sitting side by side and Mr Shekhar decided to test out the physics he learnt in school, you know projectiles

Angle of imaginary visualisation by india today is so disappointing. 😂😂.

Love how the person on the left is super calm watching all this, sitting with legs crossed & enjoying rum/whiskey. Someone really took care of the ‘business class’ look here. Really thoughtful.

Insensitivity is taking a toll on our civilised thinking. The incidents of peeing occurred a month ago. People are thinking now that the incident is worthy of informing the people. That is really the news!

Very wrong representation
1. Guy on the left drinking : okay
2. Girl getting the stream hasn’t moved an inch, except for her neck : not okay
3. Urinating guy able to hold his balance but not control the direction of stream : not okay
With a verdict of 2-1, image dismissed!

It would have been more impactful if one of male anchors reenacted the scene before a green screen like Deepak Chaurasia’s astronaut act…

India Today has done a graphical representation of what they are doing to journalism.

I mean clearly it was required since some men don’t know where not to pee

Not just India Today, love how people online went all in and microscopically inspected every detail of the incident. Nice way to kill time.
