Amitabh Bachchan Terming ‘Africa’ As The World Cup Winner Sparks Outrage On Twitter

After a thrilling 90 mins at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, a French team with extraordinary talent was crowned the Champions of the FIFA World Cup 2018. Goals from teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe, Paul Pogba, Antoine Griezmann and a Mario Mandzukic own goal saw France beat Croatia in a 4-2 win.

While the world went berserk over a 6-goal thriller at the grandest stage of all and flooded Twitter with their tweets, one of them was Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan. However, things did not work out as expected for the veteran actor.

Considering the fact that 14 members of the 23-man France squad that took part in the World Cup, are black, Amitabh posted a tweet following the final whistle. In his post, the 75-year-old mentioned that it was not France, but Africa who won the World Cup.

“Thats it then … AFRICA won the World Cup 2018.”

However, Amitabh’s tweet did not go down with the Twitterati and was slammed on the micro-blogging site.

People did not see this coming from BigB.

With 34.5 million followers on Twitter, Amitabh Bachchan has been active on Twitter for over 7 years now. But there’s one lesson Big B’s probably learnt today: Twitter spares none, even if you’re Amitabh Bachchan.
