Yesterday was the historic night that showcased to the world that India is also capable of producing Oscar-winning songs and films.
Two of the three nominations from India, Guneet Monga’s ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ and the chartbuster song ‘Naatu Naatu’ from the Telugu movie ‘RRR’, brought home awards in this year’s Oscars a.k.a the 95th Academy Awards.
While both the winners received praise from everyone across the country, there were also many who were bummed because Shaunak Sen’s ‘All That Breathes’ didn’t receive an award in the ‘Documentary Feature Film’ category. The Indian documentary lost to ‘Navalny’ directed by Daniel Roher.

Sen’s captivating documentary is about two brothers who care for the birds falling from the sky affected by the rising toxic air in Delhi.
People were even more disappointed because the film had already won multiple awards at several film festivals including ‘Sundance Film Festival’, ‘Cannes Film Festival’, ‘Hong Kong International Film Festival’ and ‘London Film Festival’ among many more.
The film is produced by Shaunak Sen (extreme right), Aman Mann (extreme left), and Teddy Leifer.

This is how heartbroken ‘All That Breathes’ fans reacted to the film missing the Oscars.
Heartbroken that Shaunak Sen’s #AllThatBreathes missed out. What a beautiful film. pic.twitter.com/4TesuvzL6L

I am super happy for the two Desi wins at the #Oscars2023 but my heart is absolutely broken for @allthatbreathes.

Still hurts that the most deserving nomination from India didn’t end up winning

Don't forget that India also had another Oscar nominee 'All That Breathes'. It might not have won an Oscar tonight but it's a phenomenal achievement. pic.twitter.com/9avU1gS7Vk

All That Breath may not have won the Oscar but has won the hearts of many 👏👏❣️❣️#AllThatBreathes pic.twitter.com/lmRT565O6x

More than #RRR winning #Oscar for #NaatuNaatu, I was strongly hoping for #AllThatBreathes to win it in the Documentary section, but CNN in the mix, it was almost impossible.
Loved the #TheElephantWhisperers, but thought it was in a tougher group, so glad it won. 2/3 then, good!

#AllThatBreathes was the best documentary. If one finds access, also watch his first , 'Cities of Sleep' . onwards and upwards, Shaunak Sen.

The Oscars snub for #AllThatBreathes in favour of geopolitical relevance does not matter. It remains one of the most profound and vital pieces of cinema in recent years. As the political and ecological become more entangled, it will be watched and discussed beyond this moment. pic.twitter.com/SuJsBauqwe

Much deserved win for #TheElephantWhisperers at the #Oscars! 🙏🏽
A BIG recognition for #AllThatBreathes as well! 👏👏👏P.S. #RRR is absolute nonsense and #NaatuNaatu only perpetuates the elephant riding, snake charming image of #India.#Oscar #Oscars95 #Oscars2023

Nothing at the Oscars has been as big an upset than the absolutely terrific doc ALL THAT BREATHES, which had won top prizes at Sundance & Cannes, losing out to 'aiming at low hanging fruits' propaganda pic Navalny. #Oscars2023

I really enjoyed #AllThatBreathes and still would thank Shaunak sen for narrating a story to remind us that the earth belongs to all of us equally!
Even though you dint win the #Oscars you did win mine and Shushi s heart 🥰 pic.twitter.com/wlDloNGWYj

Going by the Twitter reviews, I can say it’s a must-watch documentary. What are your opinions?
