Comedian Ali Asgar Reveals How He Was Molested While Playing The Character Of ‘Dadi’

The entertainment industry might look like a dreamland to us laymen, but there is a frightening side to it. However, the #MeToo movement led by Tanushree Dutta’s sexual harassment allegations against veteran actor Nana Patekar, opened up the gates to the dreadful scenario behind the curtains.

As a result of the revolutionary movement, several sexual predators in the industry have been unmasked and we are appalled by the increasing number of cases. Adding to the list of allegations, acclaimed comedian Ali Asgar has shared his story of being abused.

Ali, who rose to fame with the portrayal of his famous character of ‘Dadi’ on the sets of ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, was molested during an event in Delhi. The incident root backs to a wedding where the actor had to perform as the same.

Speaking about the disgusting episode, the 52-year-old mentioned that he was molested by the buzzed crowd at the ceremony. According to Hindustan Times, people went onto the extent of touching his chest and pinching his butt creating a doomed situation for him. Finally, he was pulled out of the situation by a girl in his team.

“Wherever I go for such shows, I don’t let the anchor announce my name, I just enter as Dadi. At this event, by the time I entered, people were already drunk. The way they attacked my after this. They were putting their hands on my chest, they were pinching my butt, I was molested! There is a girl in my team, and she managed to save me, warna main nikal nahi paa raha tha. Mera tab yeh question tha, ki bhai aapko pata bhi hai ki yeh ek aadmi hai jo aurat ka role kar raha hai? And the second question was – even if you don’t know, yeh toh ek buddhi aurat hai na, usko toh chhor do!”

Though the cases of sexual assaults have been plenty, we thank Tanushree Dutta and the #MeToo movement for giving a platform to the survivors to share their experiences. We hope, the protest brings about a new dawn in the industry.
