Akasa Air Ditches Heels, Makes Air Hostesses Wear Comfy Sneakers & Trousers As Uniform

While catching a flight, I have always looked at air hostesses and wondered how they manage to wear heels and fitted pencil skirts while working on the plane. Considering that they have to walk back and forth on the aisle multiple times, carry food and beverage trays and help passengers with their luggage, shouldn’t they wear a more comfortable uniform and footwear?

An Indian airline named Akasa Air took notice of this and ditched heels and skirts as uniforms for air hostesses. Instead, the air hostesses of Akasa Air wear comfortable sneakers and custom-made trousers as uniform.

A woman named Katyayni Singh, who was travelling via the airline, shared a picture of the air hostess and gave a shoutout to the airline on LinkedIn.

“I recently took a flight from Akasa Air and was surprised but really happy to see a well-deserved change. Attached is a picture showing how comfortable the air hostess is in her new uniform. No more killer heels to run the services. Absolute comfort and I am sure it was long pending for these humans. Congratulations Akasa Air on breaking the norms,” she wrote.

Several people online lauded the airline for their considerate efforts to make sure the cabin crew is as comfortable as possible. Here’s what some of them said:

I think many other airlines should draw inspiration from this. What say?
