Dhanush and his wife of 18 years, Aishwaryaa, took to social media to announce their separation recently. This came as a shock to many as it was so sudden, with no hints of the couple having been going through a rough time. Since Aishwaryaa is grabbing headlines, here’s some more information about her.
Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth is the eldest daughter of the superstar from the South, Rajinikanth. She and Dhanush got married young in the year 2004 and two years later, they had their first child Yatra. In 2010, they had their second child Linga.

By profession, Aishwaryaa is a well-known playback singer and filmmaker. She has worked as a playback singer in films like Ramanaa, Aayirathil Oruvan and Whistle. In 2011, she made her directorial debut with the film ‘3’ starring Dhanush and Shruti Hassan.
In 2016, she was announced as India’s goodwill ambassador for the UN Women organization to promote gender equality. She also has a memoir named Standing on An Apple Box: The Story of A Girl Among the Stars in which she navigates her life as a girl amongst film stars and talks about her career and personal life.

Now, what led to Dhanush and Aishwaryaa’s separation. An insider (identity unrevealed) opened up to India Today and claimed that Dhanush is a “workaholic” whose first priority has always been his work, for which his family life suffered. The insider went on to allege that whenever Dhanush and Aishwaryaa got into a fight, he went and signed a new project to keep himself distracted. Meanwhile, Aishwaryaa immersed herself in fitness, charities, and other social work.

“Dhanush is a workaholic. Anyone who knows him can tell that he puts his work before anything else. There have been many instances when his work commitments – travelling between cities and outdoor film shoots – have taken a toll on his family life,” it was alleged.
The insider went on to claim:
“For anyone who knows Dhanush, he’s an extremely private person. Even with his close set of friends, there is not much that he shares. You can’t tell what’s going on in his mind. Whenever he’s had tension with Aishwaryaa, or anything that has been a cause of friction between the two, he has gone and signed a new film. It almost felt like he was using his work to get away from his failing relationship and it was evident that it was taking a huge toll on them both.”

Dhanush was apparently waiting for the promotions for Atrangi Re to finish so that he could make his decision public. Before the announcement, the two allegedly sat down and had a long chat. They apparently decided to co-parent both their kids going forward.
“There is no animosity or hatred towards each other,” it was claimed.
