Brave Female Journalists Go Back To Work In Afghanistan, Interview Taliban Despite Threat

As the Taliban captured Afghanistan, the women in the country have been fearing for their future. If history were to repeat itself, women would hardly have any rights under the Taliban rule, including studying and working.

While several women fled from Afghanistan, fearless female journalists showed up to work, despite the supposed threat to their lives. Journalist Hasiba Atakpal reported from the streets of Kabul and spoke about the Taliban taking over the capital city, while several men passing by watched her do her job.

In a powerful picture that was shared online, a female journalist is seen interviewing a man outdoors while being surrounded by several men.

Some were also present during the Taliban press conference.

Not just on the road, but journalists resumed their jobs on television as well. In another picture, a female television anchor is seen being broadcasted.

In yet another powerful incident, television presenter Beheshta Arghand is seen interviewing a senior Taliban representative, unthinkable 2 decades ago.

What was even more courageous of all of them was that they wore headscarves/hijabs and not the Taliban-approved burqa. This happens while many other female journalists reported receiving death threats, being confined to their homes, and fearing their lives.

People online lauded these journalists for fearlessly doing their jobs.

To just call these women ‘brave’ would be an understatement!
