50 YO Dad Travels 12 Km To Take Daughters To School, Waits 4 Hours While They Study

For daughters, fathers are essentially superheroes who don’t wear capes. Because dads do their absolute best for their little girls – from styling their hair to pet-sitting their hamsters. And this father from Afghanistan is no different.

According to BBC News, 50-year-old Mia Khan hails from Sharana of Paktika province. His daily routine involves travelling 12 km on a motorbike with his 3 older daughters to take them to the Nooraniya school. He also waits for them (about 4 hours) to finish classes and gets them back home.

They have to travel this far because the school in their village has no teachers. Mr. Khan has 7 daughters and 2 sons. Due to heart illness, he is no longer able to work and his sons earn for the family. The 4 younger daughters go to a teacher’s home in the village to study. The Swedish Committee for Afghanistan that runs the school quoted him saying,

“I am illiterate, and I live on daily wage, but my daughters’ education is very valuable to me because there is no female doctor in our area. It is my greatest desire to educate my daughters like my sons.”

His daughter Rozi was quoted adding,

“I am so happy that I study, I am in grade six this year. My dad or brother brings us on a motorcycle every day to the school and when we leave, he brings us home again.”

Twitter is all praise for this “Super Dad” who wants his daughters to excel in their life by gaining a proper education.

Kudos, sir. You are a true inspiration for us all.
