‘Definitely Maybe’ Kid Abigail Breslin Talks About Being Raped And Why She Didn’t Report It

Remember Abigail Breslin, the girl who stole the show in the movie ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ and ‘Definitely Maybe’? She was just 10 years old when she got her first Academy Award nomination. You would think that an Oscar nomination will bolster her confidence and make people around her respect her.

But it was the opposite. 3 days ago, the 21-year-old talented actress came out to confess that she had been raped. It started when someone commented, “Reported rapes are the only rapes that count.” on her Instagram post.

It’s common knowledge that most rapes are not reported for various social and personal reasons, and Abigail confessed that she is one of them.

Abigail, in her subsequent Insta posts, explained why she did not speak out about the rape. And her reasons are convincing.

She explained how she was in a relationship with her rapist and she did not want to play the victim card.

She ended up having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – a mental condition usually faced by war veterans and people who survived horrible accidents.

This probably explains why she disappeared from the scene after landing successful roles in movies. It is good to see that survived it and has recovered.

And for the record, her finishing lines matter a lot –

Unreported rapes count. Reported rapes count. End of story.
