Abhay Deol Calls Anurag Kashyap A ‘Gaslighter’ After He Calls The Actor ‘Painfully Difficult’

In the past, Anurag Kashyap along with Abhay Deol, Kalki Koechlin and Mahie Gill worked together to give the industry a movie that would be remembered for years to come – ‘Dev. D’. It was a modern-day take on ‘Devdas’ – a classic Bengali novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. While watching the film was an incredible experience for many, it wasn’t that good of an experience for both Kashyap and Deol.

In a 2020 interview, Anurag Kashyap alleged that it was “painfully difficult” to work with Abhay Deol.

“I don’t really have great working memories with him and haven’t talked to him much since I finished shooting,” he had said, adding that he was high-maintenance.

However, recently Abhay Deol was asked to describe Anurag Kashyap in one word and he said “gaslighter”.

For those who do not know, ‘gaslighting’ is a form of manipulation which occurs in abusive relationships where one person makes the other question their own reality.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Abhay Deol said:

“Everything comes with its pros and cons. Where I come from, I know I have been gaslit for who I am. You call in a lot of aggression to you because you’re doing something and managing to get away with that. And a lot of people want to be able to do that and they can’t. So they project on you. Sometimes, that ignorance can come across as arrogance and I know it has a few times.”
